O-wool yarn is produced in Vermont, USA, by the Vermont Organic Fibre Company, a company that started back in 2000, and which supports sustainable agriculture. Additionally the yarn is only sourced from well cared for sheep and mulesing is not practised.

For every garment made with O-wool yarn approximately two to three acres of countryside is sustained under organic management in accordance with the US Organic Trade Association's standards.

O-wool yarn is produced organically, and all detergents and degreasers used in processing are bio-degradable, and acid baths are prohibited.
